Gracy Thomas is a well-known name in men and women’s wears. Nowadays she is the managing director of Mahila Apparels Angamaly. Gracy Thomas started this as a small stitching unit. She discovered that something special will yield good results among the customers. Starting from scratch, Gracy Thomas is presently a model for independence and confidence. Undoubtedly she well deserves to be honoured with Eastern Bhoomika Award. Gracy Thomas, who sure is a game changer, who play with her own rules was indeed the best choice by the Eastern Jury. Her life inspires many more generations to dream big and fight to achieve what they have dreamt.

Instead of making the same “me-too” products, she identified a hospital garment which requires high quality in garments and in good hygiene conditions. Now they are manufacturing around 2500 pieces of hospital gowns per day as against orders. Apart from that they are getting good export orders as well. A company registered in 9th Dec 1991 is now holding 28th position in best companies in Kerala.

In the initial stages she faced, several hurdles once she got a big export order but couldn’t supply, for want of funds. She didn’t receive the bank loan worth 10lac in time. But because of her self-determination and hard work she overcame such hurdles and became the best.

She is considered to be one of the real cases of women empowerment.
